Three years ago my company closed three of its stores. In the process, I was laid off. It was reassuring when people would come up to me and say, "I'm sorry you're leaving. We're gonna miss you." Luckily for me, a place was eventually found for me in my current position.
It's happened again. My location is closing now as well. The reactions I'm getting from people now are decidedly different: "Oh no! YOU'RE LOSING YOUR JOB! What are you going to do?" It's like you just told someone you have cancer or something. Of course, times are tough, but don't bring me down, people! It's not the end of the world (and if it were, why would I care if I had a job?). You know what concerns me? Whether or not I'm going to get home in time for the Psych premier on Wednesday.
P.S. In case you know someone who knows someone: I have an A.A.S. in Software Application & Programming, I graduated with a 3.9 GPA, and I make killer brownies.
